PROJECT 2012PHASE 1 NOW COMPLETE! 4th November 2011Today has seen the installation of the seven GWR style lantern tops on our lamp posts. On a rather soggy and damp day all went well, with the aid of a little WD 40, the swan necks were replaced, and hopefully these pictures taken just before dusk in the pouring rain give an idea how they look.
Our grateful thanks to everyone who has parted with their hard-earnt money to make this happen, as well as the West Somerset Railway Association who made a grant of £2000, and to the WSR PLC for their donation of £1400. Steelway Rail are to be congratulated on their attention to detail in manufacturing these lanterns.
However our project is not completed, as by 31st March 2012, [the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the station] we still need another four lanterns and their brackets for the signal box, the down waiting room and the main station building. We should be very grateful for any donations, large or small. You can use the form to do so by clicking here, or just pop into the station when trains are running with your cash or cheque! We would be delighted to see you.
